“Ok, so you might not think it's a big deal, but when I need to open my suitcase, I do not like to have to lay down my suitcase and run my hands past the dirty wheels. For years, I waited for a major brand to introduce a suitcase without this 'flaw' … and I waited. I got tired of waiting. So I designed this suitcase and filed for an international patent. Then, I made this site to see if anyone else might be interested. With enough of your support, a new type of luggage, the Uprijt, will be rolling around airports and train stations.”

Reza Jalili — Inventor, UPRIJT (say, “upright”)

I built it for you.

Patent-pending

A Suitcase That Opens Standing Up

The zipper sits well above the wheels, so your hand never brushes the grime. And you can open it standing up — no laying it flat on a dirty floor every time you need one more thing.

The problem

Suitcases haven't really changed in decades.

Traveller kneeling at a British Airways bag drop to pack a conventional suitcase
The current reality: kneeling on a busy airport floor just to reach your things.

Your hand has to pass the wheels

Traditional suitcases zip open passing through the wheels — the same wheels that just rolled through airport terminals, train platforms, and street curbs.

You lay it flat for every little thing

Need to add a jacket? Grab a charger? You have to find floor space, kneel down, and open the whole case.

Impossible in tight spaces

Trains, small hotel rooms, aisles: sometimes you have no room to lay a case down.

Not built for every body

Kneeling to unpack is painful — or impossible — for many travellers.

Introducing a new category of luggage.

How it is different

  1. 1

Roll it in — it stays on its wheels.

  2. 2

Unzip the clean, elevated equator closure while the case stands upright.

  3. 3

Lift the top shell and flip it open.

  4. 4

A mesh lining keeps the upper-half contents in place when you close the suitcase.

  5. 5

Add or remove what you need — without laying the case on the floor.

  6. 6

Close it up and go. The zipper never drops into the wheel zone.

Why it's different

Every other suitcase vs. Uprijt.

At the bag drop: the case opens at standing height, on its wheels — nothing on the floor. Rendering, not a photograph.

Every other suitcase

Uprijt

Zipper sits beside the wheels — your hand passes through whatever they rolled through

Equator zipper stays clean and well above the wheel zone

Laid flat on contaminated floors every time you need something

Opens standing up — no floor contact needed for quick access

Handle blocks half the packing surface

Handle confined to one shell — packing surface fully clear

Kneeling required to unpack anywhere

Pack and unpack at standing height, anywhere

Soft panels and wheel-side zippers let water seep in when rolled through puddles or rain

Solid lower shell shields contents from splashes; solid upper shell blocks heavy rain

Who it's for

Built for the way people actually travel.

Frequent flyers who are done kneeling on airport carpet.

Anyone who's ever needed to unpack in a train aisle or a tiny hotel room.

Travellers with back pain, joint issues, or reduced mobility — for whom kneeling to the floor isn't a minor inconvenience.

Help choose the handle

The handle architecture is still open. The twin-post layout below is an optional variation — a final design decision has not yet been made. Tell me which orientation you would rather travel with.

I am asking you to email me your payment confirmation code. Want to know why?

Most preorder pages take your card and quietly enroll you in something you didn't fully read. We wanted the opposite: your payment is processed securely through Vaiu, and then you tell us, in plain language, exactly what you ordered and in what colour. It's one extra step — but it means there's never any ambiguity about what you agreed to, and never anything happening to your money that you didn't explicitly ask for.

Generate a cash payment token at vaiu.app, then email the payment token to orders@uprijt.com. We'll confirm your reservation and lock in your discount.

Because we think a deposit deserves more than a silent webhook. Your payment is processed securely through Vaiu, which gives you a confirmation payment token proving the charge went through. Sending us that payment token, along with your colour choice, is your explicit order — in your own words, not an auto-generated line item. It takes thirty extra seconds, and in exchange you get a real paper trail: a record, in your own inbox, of exactly what you asked for and when. We'll confirm receipt within 24 hours.

If you do not already have a Vaiu.app account, please create one. While you can also use the service as a guest, having a real account will allow me to communicate your order status with you inside the Vaiu app. If you choose to use the payment app as a guest, that is fine. I will be in touch via email. Don't forget to email me your Vaiu cash token code.

I'm still working out final manufacturing costs. I'll email you the exact price as soon as I know it, and you can cancel your order if the final price feels too high. Every preorder gets 30% off the first Uprijt and 50% off each additional one.

Shipping is free within the US. International rates for other regions will be calculated at checkout.

No.

No. The equator zipper sits well above the wheel zone, so your fingers never run through the grime picked up from airport floors, curbs, or train platforms.

A mesh lining keeps the upper-half contents in place when you open and close the suitcase, so items do not fall out.

Yes. When preorders reach 1,000, everyone gets an additional 5% off their final price. When they reach 10,000, everyone gets an additional 10% off. These stack on top of your preorder discount.

After you generate your deposit payment token, you'll get a share link like uprijt.com/ref/YOUR-PAYMENT-TOKEN and a tracker at uprijt.com/track/YOUR-PAYMENT-TOKEN. You earn 1 point per visit, 3 per waitlist signup, and 10 per luggage reserved (so a quantity of 3 earns the referrer 30 points). All points are pending final orders — refunded deposits don't count. The leading product evangelist — the referrer with the most points during the 1-Year Challenge — gets their own order free, every person they referred gets an extra 10% off, and the leader also earns a $5 USD bonus per luggage delivered by June 2027. The winner will be announced and rewarded at the end of the challenge. Only evangelists who have preordered qualify.
